Joy Friedman is an internationally recognized Subject matter Expert, Author, Trainer, Speaker, Consultant, and Changemaker who has over 25 years’ experience in working with survivors, law makers, systems professionals, and other leaders in the anti-trafficking and homelessness movements.
Joy's dedication to empowering survivors led her to establish "The Missing Peace," a consulting business through which she continues to train and advise anti-sex trafficking stakeholders nationwide.
As a Survivor Leader and Subject Matter Expert, and having worked in this field for 25 years, I have witnessed critical elements missing that are necessary for healing and exiting a life of addiction, abuse, and exploitation.
Community investment is needed by systems professionals, direct service providers, community members, faith communities, educators, healthcare workers, and families play critical roles in victims survivors’ ability to heal and come back into healthy community.
How can we identify victims, how can we understand what they experience, how do we engage with them, what do they need to get out? These are critical questions that have evidence-based solutions.
After years of abuse, exploitation and addiction stemming from my childhood, I have finally found peace in personal life. In doing so, I am now using my professional life to bring about change by helping people see survivors and learn how to help them.
